I was curious to see if there was anybody on here who's in the music industry or knows of anybody in the industry.

What are some good music shops, studios, or clubs that actually have live band's in the SF-Valley area?

I'm not in a band, or trying to get a record deal, I'm trying to get into the industry as an engineer/producer.

Thanks!

As you're still in Ohio, I would suggest going through the site Music Connection Magazine to see an overview of production jobs vs. musicians, etc. I don't think you'll be wanting to confine your searches to just the Valley (where I live.) The music community works all over in private studios particularly with its wealthier elements in Malibu or the Hollywood Hills, but publicly around Burbank and the studios, Hollywood, N. Hollywood et al. The gizmo mecca would be Guitar Center. A fun (and free!) club in the Valley that has live rock music is Studio Suite at the corner of Whitsett and Riverside in Studio City. Another link to check from afar would be LA Weekly - The Essential Online Resource for Los Angeles to get a feel of the clubs everywhere in the SoCal basin. Good luck.

Thanks for some tips. I sent an online application to Guitar Center the other day, let's see if they'll call me back. I have an opportunity to transfer jobs out there, but at the moment I'm still trying to figure out what I should do. I work for a pretty big alternative radio station in Columbus right now, but I need more! haha

This is a relocation chat: you'll mainly find fellow job seekers as opposed to the movers and shakers with whom to network. I'm around the fringes anyway- a music photographer.
