L.A. Gangs
I am wondering how widespread are gangs in L.A? Since i moving to El Sugundo should i be worried about getting hit by a stray bullet? Can i walk alone in L.A. without getting "jack" or mugged?
All the hollywood movies shows L.A as a MASSIVE gang war zone. Starting to think America exports violence to oversea with so much violence at home.
Is the LAPD as corrupted as they are in the movie/news? Are the LAPD in the same "bed" as the gangsters?

LAGuy, no offense but I am starting to think you are a joke. I went back and read all of your posts and they all have the same negative theme - gangs and/or racial info.
Dont you have anything else going on in your life other than "gang violence", "interracial dating", or "will I get killed if I _______".

no need to apologize. I reread my post and it does seem racist. I was just posting in general because i am worried about my safety. I mean, i'm sure part of L.A is safe, but i want to make sure EL Sugundo is safe. I want to be able to walk out and not feel like i'm the next victim in a senseless gang war.
I'm not familiar with the crime in L.A, so i just wants to know what is up.
IF anyone is to apologize, it me for not being sensitive in my post. Anyway, if anyone can give me advice about what gangs that would really help---i guess i'm just trying to soothe my fear of L.A from all the media and movies.

pretty much just stay out of compton during the night, watts as well, you should be ok and don't go out wear all blue or red. but on the real you don't need to worry as long you keep your nose clean and not looking for trouble you will be ok, were ever you live at

El Segundo is a pretty nice area. I dont think you'll have anything to worry about there.

El Segundo is fine. It has some very nice neighborhoods and is the northernmost beach city in the South Bay. The further inland you go there the neighborhoods get worse but overall I really wouldn't worry too much about living there if I were you.
LA has a huge gang problem and there are entire neighborhoods I don't like to go into but El Segundo is definitely not on that list.

you will be fine, those movies are all hype. ya some spots are more dangerous than others, but this aint south lebanon with bombs and bullets whizzing by all around. it will ebb and flow, and shift from section of the city to section of the county. but you will be fine in most parts. just dont go around flying any colors. its stupid, but it makes a difference. right now some thugs are beefin in nickerson. then you got the low life cholos going at low life hoods in the san gabriel valley gettin old people and innocent girls mixed up in it. there are pockets of danger, but LA is not gang land like in the movies. work hard, play hard, but dont die hard. be smart about your surroundings and im sure you will be fine, at least in El Segundo. just dont leave your wallet...
