Hello everyone,
We are moving to LA next month and started looking for an apartment. Though we visit LA pretty often but we don't have good idea about daily commute. So at this moment, we are not sure which area we should check for apartments.

Me: Will be working close to the studios in Burbank.
Wife: She will working in mid wilshire area, close to Wilshire and Western metro station.

No kids and our budget is $2100. We prefer 2 bed room apartment but we are good with 1 bed room too.

So which area/city we should look into? Any apartment recommendations?

Any information would be really helpful. Thanks in advance.

Will you both have cars? I think Burbank gives you the best bang for the buck. You can definitely find a good 2 bedroom within your budget in Burbank, in the other areas you might be limited to a one bedroom

Thanks for your response. We curgently have one and planning to buy the 2nd one in 2017. I was thinking my wife will use public transport for now if we decide to live in Burbank. What about she lives close to her work and I commute to Burbank? Hows the daily commute between these two areas?

Of the four areas you mentioned I personally prefer Los Feliz and Mid-Wilshire (though a bit further west of Western, closer to La Brea).

Nothing wrong with Burbank, just not as much going on compared to the LA basin.

Los Feliz is probably the best compromise in terms of commute. It is a also a great area to live.

OP: Is your wife's work truly walking distance from the subway stop at Wilshire/Western?

Thanks for your response. How is the public transport from Los Feliz to Mid Wilshire? Is it too hard to find a 2 bed room apartment for $2100 in Los Feliz?

Get on Craigslist and Padmapper to get an idea of pricing. I used to live two blocks from Wilshire/Western and it was considered Koreatown. Subway doesn't run from Burbank so maybe live where your wife can walk or bus and you commute. Make sure places include parking

Live next to the North Hollywood or Studio City Red Line stations so she doesn't have to drive
