I'm turning into a bit of a road warrior--love taking road trips and seeing what else is around LA. When I first moved here last March, I stuck with day trips around/somewhat near LA--Santa Barbara, San Diego, etc. But this past weekend, I drove to Phoenix, Sedona, and Flagstaff to check out a bit of Arizona. I loved it and now want to plan a drive up through southern Utah and eventually end up in Salt Lake City.

Anyone here have favorite drives? Particularly long ones?

Big Sur is a great recommendation. Besides that, some others include:
Vegas (can be combined with trip to Utah)
Mammoth
Grand Canyon (it appears you got close)
Tahoe
SF
Yosemite
Central Coast

Thanks for the recs so far! I've already been to Big Sur, Vegas, and SF (used to live in SF). I will check out:

Mammoth
Grand Canyon (kind of bummed that I didn't have time while I was in Arizona)
Tahoe (stupid that I didn't do this while I was in the Bay)
Yosemite (same as Tahoe, lol)
Ensenada, Mexico -- is it safe?

Also, I have Big Bear Lake and Palm Springs on my list for more nearby stops.

When I can jump on the Red Line @ Hollywood/Highland and be carried to Santa Monica...I will cry with joy. Even if it takes an hour....which I'm sure it will.

seems like you have a lot of time off. Go to Kern County. Drive to Ridgecrest, then take the road to Lake Isabella, then back to Bakersfield. It is very scenic. Go to Tehachapi too. It is a quaint little town.

Or have you driven to Las Vegas of course.

Thanks for the suggestions! I do a lot of my drives on the weekends actually. The joy of having no responsibility besides yourself
