Hey! I'm looking for some recommendations on best places to grab some cheap food and coffee and sit down for a couple of hours.

I work from home, but it's getting tiresome so I'd love to get out and do this somewhere else a few times a week. I work on my laptop with some books and notebooks around me. Not all places are cool with having someone taking over the table for an hour or two.

I'm in Sherman Oaks, so anything close by, like NoHo, Studio City, Van Nuys or Encino works great.

Any suggestions? Thank you!

Any Starbucks would work... not the hippest place, but staying for a couple hours shouldn't be a problem at all. If you bring in food, just eat in the outdoor seating area and the staff won't bother you.

I used to hang out quite a bit at the Starbucks in Van Nuys, the one in the same plaza as Panda Express and across from Ralph's. There are old men there who would nurse a cup of coffee and chat outside pretty much all day.

Yes, Starbucks or most coffee shops in general don't mind if you loiter for a couple of hours. Starbucks pretty reliably has wi-fi so that you can get some work done. It seems like there are two groups of people who go to Starbucks A) those who get takeout or B) those who hang out for at least an hour. I would at least buy something if you're going to be there for a while.
