The east is not always green either. In the fall it is yellow, red, orange and brown. In the winter it is white, and spots of black because of soot.

The charm of the REALLY green area in Western Washington (specifically the Olympic Peninsula) is that while that section gets more rain than anywhere else in the US outside of parts of Hawaii and southern Alaska, it doesn't feel grossly humid because of the tempering effects of the mountains and ocean. In fact the area is one of a handful of areas in the world known as "temperate rain forest".
