Hi All,

Was recently made an offer by CHLA for a new position but it seems unreasonably low. I understand across the board that pediatrics pays less than any adult field of medicine but the offer was less than I am already making in a pedi sub specialty in another state with a lower cost of living. Anyone have any idea what the midlevel providers (PA/NP) here make in terms of a range and subspeciality (PICU/NICU/Surgery/Cards/Onc/hospitalist)? I am waiting to see how flexible they are with negotiations. I am also an out of state candidate seeking relocation for which I would also like to see if they would cover (my last position did). I am just fearful that if i accepted this position I couldnt make financial ends meet. I already struggle to pay my hefty student loans each month and just concerned that id now also be paying higher rent/car insurance/etc. Any info would be helpful!

California pays MDs less than many states in the south because there's such a high demand to live here. I would assume that's the same for mid levels.

I don't know any PAs or NPs personally but I've been told most are making between 80-100k.
