If it's unincorporated then it's not a part of Pasadena.

i can't speak to pasadena specifically, but in general, living in an unincorporated area means you receive county services as opposed to city services. i lived in marina del rey for a time, which is unincorporated, and the difference was not really noticeable.

I think the OP is referring to Altadena which is an unincorporated part of LA County.

Generally, being unincorporated, you must be OK with POSSIBLY having a septic tank (no sewer system), a propane tank (no natural gas available), County Sheriff instead of police, streets/roads that are filled with bumps and potholes. Also the pluses-and-minuses of few building codes--there may be McMansions next to many ramshackle buildings.

That's definitely possible, but there's also East Pasadena (Unincorporated) or Kinneloa Mesa.

The OP's post is extremely vague.

No certificate of occupancy required to sell your house.
