I'm planning to hike in Griffith Park in a couple days. I'm moderately active, my husband is not :-) I'm thinking of doing the East Griffith Observatory Trail. I have a couple questions for those that have hiked here before:

1) PARKING: I'm planning to try to park on the street, along Vermont Canyon Road. Is this the best plan for parking? I'd prefer free parking but do not mind paying. I do NOT want to park at the Observatory because I want to hike up to it.

2) I've heard the trails are not clearly marked. What is the best way to know how to follow the trail?

Any other tips/advice you have is very welcomed! Thanks in advance!

Well ok then, I was going to recommend parking up there since it is free. It is a fantastic hike from there.

We found parking easily (maybe cause it was an overcast rainy/drizzly day) and found the trail head easily thanks to Modern Hiker website descriptions! It was a fantastic hike! I highly recommend it!
