Husband got a job at FCI TI and have no clue as where to live. We're looking for a safe place with good school for our elementary and middle school kids. We can't afford anything above $2800. So what are places we should look at that meet our criteria and with a reasonable commute? Also, is there staff housing? If so, where would my kids go to school?

Torrance. Most likely a 3/2 apartment or townhome.

The other nicer areas close by do not have good public schools as they are zoned to LAUSD.

The other option is Lakewood and Long Beach east/south of Lakewood Bl. Your rent money might go a bit farther there but your drive is longer and the public schools aren't as good as Torrance.

Thx. I was thinking Torrance, but man is it expensive. But I guess that's norm for everyone there.

Cheaper than anything else nearby with good public schools.

Lots of town homes and apartments under your budget, but if you want a house, I don't think you'll find a 3/2 under $2800/mo.
