Right at least there are alternatives, unlike some other busy areas in the city. People are crowding up Hollywood/Highland because they are looking around , not because they are using it just to get around.

The worst traffic bottleneck is probably Sunset Blvd in Brentwood around rush hour. I haven't kept up with the 405 construction, but I'm guessing it's still pretty bad. I'm not in Brentwood during rush hour anymore so I don't know if it's still as insane.
They're still doing construction there? It's been going on forever! I moved out of Brentwood a couple of years ago -- it was a nice place to live but you'd better love it because it's super hard to get east of Sepulveda due to almost all-day traffic. I took some science classes at UCLA Extension that started at 7pm and it usually took about 45 min to go about 3 miles to UCLA at that time (you have to pass the 405 and Sepulveda on Wilshire), pretty ridiculous. Luckily Santa Monica had everything I needed most of the time but it's easier getting around now that I moved to a more central part of the city.

Yeah I experienced that insane gridlock way too much. Summers were generally a lot better , with schools out and more people gone..but it just varied from bad to terrible usually!
