My original point was that there is nothing the equivalent of bel air, Holmby hills, or palisades within stl city limits. Unlike LA which has such areas to mitigate its average crime stats. Do you disagree?

The point of my initial response was that there are PLENTY of very nice, and very affluent suburbs in the St Louis area.

You're very strange. Why would you quote my post if that's what you're trying to say. I lived in U City for 4 years. I know quite well what the suburbs of Stl are like.

I grew up in suburban St. Louis so I think I have a good handle on what sort of community might best suit the OP. Unfortunately, you can't afford to duplicate or even approximate that sort of living experience in LA on your budget and commute constraints.

I was thinking of 360 in Hawthrone as well. Location is good (easy access to 405) and it's gated so it's safe. It's relatively new but so-so construction quality.

Westchester north of LAX and El Segundo south of LAX are options for the lifestyle you described. Culver City/Palms a little better for her commute. The Palms is going to be a LOT more of an urban experience than anything out in West County STL, though.

What you want is Manhattan/Hermosa Beach for the living experience (but not for her commute) but those areas are likely well out of your budget. I'm not sure you can get into Manhattan Village for $2.5k.

Yeah, I grew up here and the kids I went to school with and their parents were fairly down to earth and normal. Other cities complain about us moving there, but we just seem to accept the hordes of transplants coming here year after year. Maybe some of us natives aren't happy with how the transplants have changed our city. I wonder what would happen if we had the same incredibly unfriendly attitude towards transplants as Oregonians, for example, have towards us...all I know is I wouldn't want to move to Portland knowing how much they hate Californians with their "Don't Caliifornicate Oregon" bumper stickers and attitude towards us. Maybe 1 bedrooms wouldn't cost over $2k if they stopped coming, who knows since the tidal wave of transplants never stops. I'm only here because my whole family lives here, I would have gone elsewhere with a higher QOL and larger savings account otherwise.
