I just read some comments about Whole Foods and I do shop at the Wilshire 5th St and the Montana stores pretty often...But when I feel like driving to the Coop on Broadway I prefer supporting the Coop any day. They are the first really health food store on the Westside and one can support them to continue to do what they do. Nice people and community owned.

What's interesting about Whole Foods is that the CEO and Cofounder actually supports very conservative (non Progressive) political beliefs. For example he has compared Obamacare to fascism.

Whole Foods CEO: Obamacare Is 'Like Fascism'
and he has said that climate change is 'not necessarily bad'.
Whole Foods CEO On Climate Change: John Mackey Says Warming Is 'Not Necessarily Bad'

I think a lot of would assume that the cofounder would be more a liberal/progressive hippy type.

I don't know the political leanings of Whole Foods customers....but I'm guessing the ones in L.A would be 'left leaning'.

I believe more left leaning, but didn't WF's start in Texas? Can't get much more right...

When they took over on the Westside they bought Wild Oats and took away the once a week senior 10% discounts....we were "pi**ed.. We also lost Big Lots aka Pick n Save discount store on Lincoln for a massive whole foods. Funny the Lincoln Blvd store is next to 99Cent store.

Yeah true, I think Austin is the most liberal part of TX from what I've heard.

Although Houston did have the first openly LGBT mayor of any major city in the United States...Even L.A hasn't had that.

Houston's Annise Parker Officially Leaves Office After 6 Years As 1st Out Gay Mayor of Major US City - Towleroad

Sure not all LGBT are Democrats or left wing or whatever...but it's clear the Democratic Party is more supportive of gay rights versus Republicans.

I think most people in L.A would be shocked to know that Houston had an openly gay female Mayor for 6 years.

He's actually a libertarian but the liberals made sure to tar and feather him for his beliefs. They leaked embarrassing online posts he had made that were discovered during some government investigation. Most of his customers are liberal so I guess how dare he have differing political opinions. I like Whole Foods but also realize that they are not immune to the pressures of any other multi billion dollar corporation to increase shareholder value.

Yes, I suppose it's similar to Chick Fil A in a way, I know there were protests at the Hollywood location because of their stance on being anti gay.
But both of these companies seem to be pretty good to their employees from what I've heard.
Some people can't separate the product from the politics.
At least it's still a free...or somewhat free country and we can all choose.

Obamacare is fascism, pretty much a textbook definition of it. Our entire govt is a combination of fascism, socialism and communism.
BTW, from what I've read about the CEO he is very libertarian.

Whole Foods caters to people with money. In L.A. and the Bay Area those people tend to lean left. I doubt the Whole Foods customers in not only Texas but also OC are left-leaning....

They came into the LA market by buying two small Westside chains, Westward Ho and Mrs. Gooch, several years before they bought Wild Oats.

Juergenson's in Pasadena closed up coincidentally right when Whole Foods came to L.A. They were like Whole Foods long before Whole Foods, and used to have stores in Westwood, Beverly Hills, and Santa Monica

I don't have to jump on board or agree with the political beliefs of store executives to shop in a store.

I don't expect nor care that they share my political beliefs.

I go to shop and buy food.
