I love California and I visit frequently but I'm not about to jump from the pot into the frying pan. Intelligent people research and read up on places before they do something as big as move to another coast. If you think otherwise, oh well. Different strokes for different folks. Have a blessed one.

I hope one day your ignorance will fade into oblivion. USA needs less of that.

Ask the Houston forum or Dallas forum one day and see what kind of answers you'll get. The Austin forum will have a field day with that one. I'm sure they'll agree with you that Mexicans are taking over Texas lol.

You don't know what you're talking about. A quick example you stated the Valley was expensive. The Valley consists of areas that are more upscale like Encino and Sherman Oaks, to lower income like Panorama City and parts of Van Nuys, you said the Valley is expensive. You're giving out incorrect information due to the fact that you don't live here and never have.

Exactly, and especially the bolded part.
Again, I am not ADVISING anyone. I came to this thread to GET advice and then wrote about my experiences. Relaying an experience is quite different from offering advice, which I did not do. I have done searches for homes on Zillow and the prices ARE expensive compared to my area. So again, I am coming from my own personal viewpoint and bias. It may not be expensive to you because you are used to the prices in LA which are more expensive than most areas of the county. Everyone sees things from their own cultural and socioeconomic viewpoint. I really don't get you two being in attack mode for people offering their own experiences up for discussion. But, of course, this is the internet, where internet bullies thrive.

How did this go from discussing gang violence IN CERTAIN AREAS to Mexicans taking over Texas? Again, I think you are coming from a place of bias and blowing up something bigger than what it is (which is staying safe). Anyways, have a good night and God bless.

I've seen on some online blogs that the goal for Mexicans is to take over California and Texas though (trying to get their territory back).
Don't act like you didn't say some stupid ish....that's why your getting flamed and mad about it.

More so hype. In the past 10 years Crip versus Crip next street over and Crip versus Blood violence is way down, however the nightmare scenario of the late 80s that the Mexican and Salvadorian gangs would start to take on the Black gangs has started. First in Mar Vista/Venice areas in western LA and in the Harbor Gateway and has been creeping to other South Central areas long controlled by various Crips and Bloods from the Gateway. But out right threats to residents?, I have only heard of them coming from eastern LA County (Inglewood is considered borderline of the South Bay west of South Central LA) where the first Black families move into old time Latino gang territory.

In South Central and the South Bay which has seen increasing Latino population gains in the past 30 years you would see minor violence at high schools normally around this time of year as the Blacks retaliating for the perceived slights done by Mexicans and other Central Americans during school African American History month celebrations act up during the Cinco De Mayo celebrations and then the big racial fight at a high school happens. It has happened in Inglewood School District, Centennial Valley School District as well as Los Angeles Unified School District schools if a race riot happened at one of the Compton schools I don't remember it
Thanks for the detailed (and friendly) answer! I have some distant relatives in Long Beach that I will probably check with as well when I get a chance.

Hopefully one day, we can all scream this. Ignorance should be a sin.

I'm hardly mad, dear. Just addressing facts. My statement about Mexicans reclaiming certain areas in CA and TX was in reference to having concerns about venturing into unsafe neighborhoods without knowing it. From what I have read, the "La Raza" movement is about separation and seeing one race as better than all others which is where the gang violence is seemingly stemming from. Of course, anyone would research up on things such as these and address them, especially, being that this thread addresses the lack of Black Americans in Southern California. You'd be ignorant to think that racial tensions wouldn't be addressed as one of the many reasons that Black people are leaving SoCal in droves. Again, dealing with reality.

It's sad that you can't have a civil discussion without name calling.

So you link a source about La Raza that has red state and Ann Coulter as the political section and say that's reality? What a joke.

That's like linking to Slate thinking your getting a non biased liberal opinion.

That article is one of many online. I just grabbed one of the first that popped up on the subject. SEO in effect. You seem to be the one that is angered. Not sure why you can't just have a civil discussion and address the facts (or even provide facts negating mine if need be). That is what adults do.
