Default Best Way to get to Universal City

Hi everyone, my spouse works in Palm Springs and we will be living in Beaumont, but i have jobs lined up in Universal City and in Parts of Glendale The bad part of this is the commute can any one advice me on the best way to get there. I'm just moving from Florida, so any highway or other type of transportation is good...like a jet
Thanks ...

You'd be better off living in Florida and flying into Burbank than make that drive every day.

Default No good news on this one

Wow. That's a tough commute. Easily hour and a half or more by car. We have a second home in Palm Springs and commute from the LA area many times a year.

A couple of possible routes would be the northern routes via the 10w to the 101n or the 60w to the 101n. The traffic is very tough on both routes especially when traveling during main rush hour times.

There is also the option of the train, Amtrack has a Beaumont station, however you would have to likely change trains onto the LA Metro line which has a stop in Universal City and then from there arrange for taxi, bus etc.

If you're still in your employment search process, I would definitely try to find something closer to your residence.

Best of luck to you.

Ouch...

It would be an hour and a half in 'normal' 65mph traffic, but when is the cruising speed on the 10/60/210 ever 65mph (well maybe at 3 am)?

To give you a point of reference, it takes me 1.25 hours to go from Rancho Cucamonga to Universal City (55 miles) during rush hour, and that's in the carpool lane on the 210 the entire way. In the evening it takes me 1.5-1.75 hours to go the opposite way, in the carpool lane. I can't even imagine adding the distance to Beaumont on to that or using the 10 or 60.

Perhaps the train would be the better bet, especially since the Red Line stops right in Universal City.

I think I hemmoraged just reading this. I'm Mr. Anti-Commute. This is too awful for words. You may spend (easily) 6 hours a day in your car. Look for another job or don't live in Palm Springs.
