Chicago over LA hands-down. I lived in both for over twenty-years. La for first 24 and Chicago for the balance. Like the person says above, Chicago is on the upswing. Besides, you can always buy another layer of clothing for those few days of -0 Chicago gets every year and you know weather is coming in advance. Whereas there is no clothing to prepare you for "Earthquake Season...".

For the love of God, close this n00b thread *now*.
The OP hasn't even responded. Just making bait posts for the sake of controversy.

I am from the Midwest, but would rather live in LA than Chicago. Chicago is expensive. Why pay for a high cost of living if the weather is ****. Plus Chicago is a concrete jungle. I'd take LA with the canyons, ocean, beaches and mountains anyday.

nYc...why did you leave this city out?? I have lived in LA, unless it is Manhatten Beach the rest is too fake, materialistic, traffic, smog, fire and let just say fruits n nuts running around with no direction! Chicago...ahhhh...great food, great downtown, some tradition and culture left and things are still within walking distance. I would hands down say Chicago has much more class.

I like both cities. Correction...they are 2 of my favorite cities in the country (NYC is also in my top 3).
I love the beaches, weather, and scenery of LA.
But in Chicago everything is at your fingertips. I say Chicago

And LA isn't? LA is actually more expensive.
I'm sure i'll get some negative rep points for this but...
I love both cities, but I choose Chicago. Chicago isn't quite as spread out, and with Chicago, you don't need a car thanks to mass transit. Granted, you have the brutal winters, but thats the only problem I have with Chicago. I would live in either one and will be this August. They are vastly different and I can see why the Californians choose LA. However, like the other poster said, the topic is a bit ridiculous. Both cities offer so much, there's no reason to hate on either.

Why would you get negative rep points for your opinion? The poster asked for opinions.
I MUCH prefer LA, there is no way you could get me to Chicago. I love the beach, the mountains, hiking, mountain biking, amusement parks, and you can enjoy them year round. I personally cannot imagine living in flat land without the ocean, mountains and such.
