Where would you rather live Chicago or Los Angeles
I would rather live in La because the climate is better but La has alot of traffic.

I will live in L.A. a total paradise.
However, I LOVE CHICAGO another Mega city and a fellow "Global City". Chicago is very friendly, like L.A. and has great food. The cold is ridicoulous. Some people say "we are used to the cold". But why would anybody WANT to get used to the cold?
Chicago is GREAT. One of America's greatest cities.
Now what will happen, is all the NEGATIVE bashers will show up.
They will try to rip your soul out. Beware
They hate mega-cities.

They are both expensive and they both have jobs and they both have traffic and they both have all the negatives and positives of huge cities. LA has some of the best weather in the world and the diverse landscapes.
LA by a mile. Not even close. Not sure why this poll was created.

I choose Los Angeles since it's close to the pacific, and the diversity. The bad thing is there's too much traffic and the gangs.
But on top of that, I'm down for LA. That's the place to live on the West Coast.

They are all liars! haha I've lived in Milwaukee for my entire life. I can't stand the cold. I know Milwaukee isn't Chicago. It's a little colder, but the cities are only about an hour to an hour and a half drive away. Chicago has more to offer than Milwaukee as well, but I've still seen most of it. Many consider Milwaukee a "mini Chicago".
I just got back from LA late last night. The second I stepped out of the airport, I was ready to turn around and go back. I love the LAFD for many reasons, but it also helps that I would be in warm weather if I were to get the job. I can't wait to move out there if I get the call.
Another thing, people say that they would love four seasons and would want to see snow. Well snow might be fun and beautiful to watch, but that changes very fast when you need to go somewhere. The plows can only move so fast. Everyone is moving extremely slow and sliding all over the place.

Oh Great. Now they're doing versus posts in the individual city threads...as if the 15,000 versus posts in general US wasn't enough.
Nothing says "please validate my city" better than the ol' versus thread.
Wonderful.
Oh Joy.

Yeah, basically. No offense to the thread starter, but since this is the L.A. forum you know everyone here is going to say L.A. and anyone else who says Chicago is gonna get chewed out. Someone should just lock this thread.

Yes, I definitely have to agree with you, it seems that only reason people choose LA over chicago is the weather. Seriously, the weather is bearable, I have a couple of friends from Australia living in Chicago and they're not even bothered by the weather.
But its really hard to choose between the two because they are so completely different. If I where to choose based off of my tastes I would pick Chicago. Chicago is definitely a hub for the arts and architecture(sorry LA, but you have a lot of ugly buildings that seem to all look alike). And the city of Chicago really has been making progress with "green" living. And since the city get so much snow and rain, it really helps clean out the air. I do like LA a lot for many reasons, but its too polluted and is missing a central core, its just seems to be a like one big sprawling suburb. LA doesn't really seem like a city, it has all the city problems but not the feel.

LA is like bran cereal. Once you get past the nuts and flakes, all you have left is a crusty bowl...
Chicago over LA hands-down. I lived in both for over twenty-years. La for first 24 and Chicago for the balance. Like the person says above, Chicago is on the upswing. Besides, you can always buy another layer of clothing for those few days of -0 Chicago gets every year and you know weather is coming in advance. Whereas there is no clothing to prepare you for "Earthquake Season...".
