From the comfort of home do you ever enjoy looking at the red traffic jams on sigalert.com? I'm staying in Agoura Hills for another 8 months. It can get up to 110 degrees out here but at least there's no traffic even on a holiday getaway weekend.

I looked at it twice since I have friends commuting from North OC to San Diego. It is terrible out there.

Traffic is terrible and it's getting worse. I wonder if it has anything to do with too many people living in one particular place.

Some areas like PCH have become traffic nightmares in the last 5 to 10 years. Don't even THINK about getting on PCH during the day on Summer weekends. Tons of beach goers. I wonder if the people of Malibu took into account traffic. There's just no getting out of there from about 3 O'clock onward. Even during the week it is often a mess during rush hours.

That, plus a lack of sufficient transit coverage. Also massive sprawl, because if we had more dense development, we wouldn't have droves of people in cars driving in from the burbs.

Strangely enough, yes, I do look at SigAlert from home even when I'm not going anywhere. I'm glad it's not just me! My "staycation" this week really was a staycation. I did go out to Ojai one day and then to Ventura, but the trip home on the 101? Yuck. It was around the time I would usually be going home from work, and I was reminded yet again why I always take surface streets.

No. More like Paris, London, Chicago, Tokyo, New York City. You know those other world class cities that LA shares a league with? But by all means please continue using the absolute worst and most extreme examples of dense cities to further your agenda.

We live here because we don't want to be as congested as cities such as New York.

I look at Sigalert every day before I hit the road. Having a job that takes me all over LA county every day you learn when to drive where. I avoid most of the traffic that people complain about. But there's always that one %&$#@ person who can only see me at 5:00 in Long Beach (I live in Woodland Hills). On those days I crawl up the 405 to Marina del Rey, have dinner on the boat and go home around 9. Gotta have a Plan B.
