Working in City of Industry...where to live?
I have another active question about commuting from Pasadena to City of Industry, but it got me thinking. If someone works in City of Industry, what is a good city to live in nearby so the commute (by car) wouldn't be awful, but the city would also be worth living in?
I'll be honest, I really don't like Rowland Heights, El Monte, Chino, West Covina, Diamond Bar, Whittier, or Claremont/Upland, which seem to be closest. I guess my question is, since I don't like those cities, what are some other cities to live in that are nice/fun, but a sane commute to City of Industry would still be do-able? I know we're looking at a longer commute time if I don't want to live in those cities, but I'd rather live someplace I like. I really need some replies, I'm going to have to make this decision in a few months. Thanks!

Have you considered the city of Brea in Northern Orange County? I was actually planning on working at a new location that my company opened in Industry while I was living in Brea, but decided to move to Anaheim Hills so that commute to Industry was not an option for me. Brea is a beautiful city with a lot of diverse shopping, great housing and it is on the 57 bordering Diamond Bar and Los Angeles County. It is not anything like those cities you mentioned, and that may be because Brea is located in Orange County. In fact it was named as one of the top five suburbs in the western US in 2006, the only city in CA mentioned. Give it a look online, best of luck

Sometimes it might be better to think in terms of convenient commuting. I didn't check this out, but if there was a train station near where you work, then you could live anywhere along the line even if it wasn't close in terms of commuting by automobile. For example, a person could live in Chatsworth and work in downtown LA. Driving from Chatsworth to LA would suck but using the train might be worth it.

As for the City of Industry itself, it has 777 people. - Not too many.

nothing particularly wrong with whitter or diamond bar. there are good parts of both.
a not so terrible commute(but still time consuming) would be downey, cerritos, artesia, east lakewood, bellflower.
also northern fullerton, brea

Some other good choices would be Walnut, San Dimas, Glendora, La Verne, southern Hacienda Heights, and La Habra Heights. All are pretty close to Industry and are very good areas... the places to avoid near there are the largely Hispanic areas (El Monte, Baldwin Park, Pomona, Pico Rivera, La Puente, etc.) as they tend to be run down for the most part and can be very dangerous.
