Santa Monica has a couple of dog parks, one on Main St. and another near the city airport. There's also a real cool dog park in Venice on Main St. that always has lots of dogs at it.

For celebrities, the dog park at Laurel Canyon is the hot spot. The best thing about this dog park is that most of the owners are responsible. You can also meet some very reputable dog handlers/experts here. Best days are weekdays from 11:00 am til about 3pm.

I know there are nice dog beaches in Long Beach and Huntington, but what's your favorite dog park?
Thanks!

I take mine to the Hermon Dog Park, in the Hermon District. Take 110 N, off at Via Marisol (used to be Hermon, but the County Supervisor changed the name- understand Marisol was his daughter/niece..?). Regardless, turn into the park- you'll see tennis courts on the right. Keep going down the long driveway and you'l find the dog park past the Avenue 60 arches. Two areas, the largest is very large.
Alot of people let their dogs run loose next the parkway as well, you can see it on the right as you head up the Arroyo Seco to Pasadena. Never had a problem there, owners pretty respectful and friendly. I like the Silverlake Reservoir park, but it gets awfully muddy and dusty (not at the same time) for my tastes. The Hermon park has a dirt/gravel mixture of some kind that seems to hold steady. I think there is a 'Friends of Hermon Dog Park site.

Great advice! Hopefully my interviews this week will go well and I'll be a neighbor soon. Wish me luck!
I'm getting really excited about making the classic road trip cross-country with my faithful pooch. Could it be any more American? :-)

My dogs (and I) love Runyon Canyon. I live in Los Feliz, and we typically walk around the neighborhood because it's most convenient, but when I've got a bit more time we go to Runyon Canyon. It's so much fun to watch all the happy, excited dogs. Regarding just good dog neighborhoods, though, Los Feliz is great. Almost everyone on my street has a dog, and when we go walking, no matter what time of day, we always meet a lot of people out walking their dogs in the surrounding blocks.
If you ever take a day trip down to San Diego, Dog Beach is awesome. I haven't checked out any of the dog beaches in LA, but we love going there when we're in SD.
