I'm a middle-aged Canadian who's moved back to the area to take a job with an employer I used to work for a few years back. Just by myself this time, so looking at rooms to rent. I've narrowed it down to two, both in condos, one at 22100 Burbank Blvd. in Woodland Hills/91367, the other coincidentally at 18307 Burbank Blvd. in Tarzana/91356.

So what are the pros and cons of each area? I don't care about schools or what have you, just general safety, peace and quiet, odds that my bicycle won't get stolen (or that I have to keep it in my bedroom), that sort of thing.

Both locations are next to the 101 freeway, so I'm not sure you're going to get a lot of peace and quiet.

Tarzana and Woodland Hills are both safe areas and have plenty of restaurant/shopping options in the vicinity. The areas are relatively comparable, so I'd probably just opt for the condo that you think is nicer and has the best amenities.

I'm familiar with the Tarzana location. There is nothing wrong with that area per se, but there are many orthodox jewish families in that area as well as many immigrants from russia and eastern europe. I'm not sure if this will interest your or not, but just sharing my observations. Also, the Tarzana area along Ventura Blvd between Reseda and Burbank is great for shopping and dining, which you wouldn't be too far from. if it were me though, i'd go with the Woodland Hills location because I think there is a lot more to do within a short drive, including the westfield malls and even more shopping and dining options along Ventura Blvd.
