How do you not know if you would need a car or not? Unless you walk to work or live an easy transit connection away from work, which is impossible considering you will have an apartment before a job, then you will need to get a car. Questions like these show you aren't ready. Take a step back here.

All depends on how long you go without a job. Could take months.

My father-in-law worked homicide and sex crimes in Los Angeles for 30 years. He is very protective of my wife but he's obviously seen a side to the city most of us have not. As a parent myself (to a five year old) I understand how your parents would want to be protective of you. From my lens your degree of safety is dependent upon where specifically you're going on what you plan on doing while you're there.

And those areas are why you want to move to LA?

I'm not saying that I wouldn't need a car I was saying that as being a possibility. The thing you don't get is that I'm asking questions to learn. Just because I ask questions doesn't mean I don't know anything. If all you intend to do is judge me then don't even bother to comment.

Not answering my question. Where do you know these people from, how did you meet them, that's what I meant.
