And they also have to consider school district. That is why I am commuting 45 min each way. My time is valuable but cost of having to send kid to private schools outweighs 90 minutes lost in car each day in my hourly wage

Culver City would be better for working in Century City than Brentwood would be. Brentwood's on the wrong side of the 405. While the distance is short on a map, the level of traffic means that commute is much, much longer than it appears. If you work east of the 405, try to live east of the 405. Plus Culver City has the benefit of not having L.A. city services, not being LAPD territory, and actually having the homeless problem under control.

You need to look at schools. LAUSD is very -- well let's put it this way, it ranks below Alabama. There are some great neighborhood schools but most of them have a lottery.

Make sure you really want to do this.

LA is very, very expensive.

Brentwood is great but rents in West LA can easily reach $5000+.
