The exact same process is going on here.
Now if they talked about artists moving to the Inland Empire or Vegas, OTOH...
No way is LA more expensive than NYC.

The very beginning of this article (starting from the second sentence) had me rolling my eyes.

How about the first sentence ? SF artists only visited L.A when they were high on LSD?

Also it's funny it seems like there are all these articles saying people want to move from SF to L.A

And to NYC

http://www.bizjournals.com/sanfranci...francisco.html

And then I've read some saying they are or want to move to Seattle.

I took that as a mockery of San Franciscans, who claim to hate Los Angeles so much. However, I saw the second sentence as the author taking a few jabs at Los Angeles and Angelenos themselves.

People are moving everywhere. I don't know why people waste their time writing about it. LOL.

Can we also call out the point where the author called the Kardashians "aristocrats" of Los Angeles? Really? The author must not know lots of Angelenos can't stand the Kartrashians.

Yeah that's just dumb . There are tons of old money families worth more the Kardashians living in L.A or the L.A area . Those would qualify more as aristocrats . The ones that have their names on hospitals , college buildings etc that have donated millions .

It's the same old stale stereotype that L.A doesn't have history or culture . Which shows the ignorance of the writer or person saying that more than anything .

LA while not as expensive as Manhattan is about as expensive as Brooklyn, and is more expensive than the other boroughs. Also, salaries are higher in NYC, and you get more for your money in NY. LA provides the worst value for money of any US city, even SF.

It's funny how they throw in the typical old tired stereotypes and slams against L.A yet still claim it to be the new cool hotspot for artists priced out by the rich "tech bros" in the Bay Area.

It's funny these idiots don't realize that L.A has had a 'bohemian ' or artist scene for decades.
Really ignorant!

Lot's of articles like this about 'artists' priced out of NYC moving to L.A too.

The other thing they are ignorant about is LA is hardly CHEAP. You're still going to need money and a good career to have any kind of reasonable existence in LA.

LA doesn't have as good as public transportation as NYC, so you will be getting a car or using UBER or LYFT a lot more. That does add up.

LA is at least as expensive as NYC when you count in transportation costs. Their public transportation is improving, but still they have a way to go.

Yeah the article hinted at that , pretty contradictory . There was some wanna be comedian that said it was a humbling experience to be priced out of the " F ing valley "

The valley alone is a huge place with millions of people in the San Fernando valley .
Big price differences between Studio city and Panorama City .

It's kind of dumb if people are crying that Studio city or Sherman oaks isn't cheap.
Those have always been nice areas .
