Always a history lesson along with calling the game. Interesting and decent guy.

So he won't be doing the playoffs? That would be a shame.

It would be cool if he could go out like Chick Hearn did. I believe Chick's last game was the clincher in the 2002 NBA Finals.

I grew up listening to Vin and will really miss his great commentary. You can tell how much he loves the team, and the game. He will be hugely missed!!!

I remember when he called the multiple D-Backs/Dodgers brawl game from a few years ago and he said:

(1) "No need to name names. They're all there."
(2) "That's horse manure."

He's got the awesome irreplaceable dry sense of humor. Dodger games are going to be just weird without him. Much like this upcoming Kobe-less, Duncan-less, Garnett-less NBA season.

He will be greatly missed. Only once in a generation do we get someone of his talents. I had the honor of meeting him in person when I was able to sit in the photographer's box at the end of the dugout during a game.

I've listened to Vin my whole life, and was mildly surprised when I met him how short he was. To me, he was a giant. He is now with his beloved Sandy.
