Yesterday was sportscaster Vin Scully's last time calling a Dodger game (*sad tears*). Scully called for the Brooklyn Dodgers in the early 50's, and started for the Los Angeles Dodgers in the late 50's.

Vin Scully is truly a sports legend and a Los Angeles icon. I will miss listening to his fantastic voice, as well as "It's time for Dodger baseball!" coming from him. To say I'm sad is an understatement, but some good things must come to an end.

We will miss you, Vin! Hope to see you at a game! And the Dodgers clinching the National League West on his last day makes everything sweeter.

It was his last home game, not his last game. He'll be calling the games until the end of the season with the final game in SF against the Giants on Sunday.

One thing that puzzles me is Vin is the essence of dodgers.
Why didn't they rename dodger's stadium Vin Scully stadium, instead of naming some street for him?
If he was all that important to the franchise, it would only be fitting to name the home stadium after him.

Bob.

At least it's not (insert name of corporation) Stadium, or some such crap.

Scully said he won't be calling any post-season games, so this last three games in SF are it. Needless to say, it won't be the same without him. When I was a kid, every other person in the stadium had a transistor radio, tuned to KFI. The whole stadium vibrated to the sound of his voice.

At least at his last home game, the team sent him off in style.

Vin Scully Stadium just doesn't sound right to me, and I hope Dodger Stadium stays Dodger Stadium.

Vin Scully Ave. sounds better.

See you soon? I guess you better. he's like 90 years old. I guess I never too well to him calling entire games without an analyst

I thought he did a great job in the movie For Love of the Game. His announcing was the highlight of that film.

Looks like there are more people who didn't understand the "see you soon" bit.

Ever heard of people saying "this isn't a goodbye, but a see you later"?
