The affair he had with the Telemundo anchor made him into a joke. Talk radio had a field day. Although the affair has ended, rarely is Villaraigosa mentioned without referring to his indiscretion. The whole event made him seem like a trivial fool.

Villaraigosa is a progressive Democrat in a Democratic city. Most people are uninterested in his private life, but, instead want action on alleviating traffic [more one-way streets, more light rail], improvement of schools/after-school programs, decease in gang activity/, affordable housing, more emergency rooms & environmental activism. As the alcalde of the largest Spanish-speaking city outside Mexico, Villaraigosa has a mixed report card.

I think he is more interested in setting himself up for a federal post than being the mayor of L.A. I long for the days when Tom Bradley ran L.A. L.A. was a wonderful city then. With Riordan, if you weren't rich, you didn't count. With Villaraigosa, if you aren't hispanic or can't get him to Washington, you don't count. I can't wait to get to Arkansas.

The L.A. of the 80s. She was the "leading lady" and the L.A. I remember. It was an L.A. that people still wanted to come to, not escape from...
Ah, yes, my place of birth will always have a place in my heart....

I have never seen any person try so hard to get themselves in front of the camera. I swear he must have a camera crew follow him everywhere he goes.

regarding illegals?
Does anyone feel that he (villaraigosa) is prostituting the city off for illegals? I assume that Tom Bradley is a more beloved figure of la politics (I assume, I don't know for sure), what was Bradley's attitude toward illegals? I'm just curious...

No pimping for undocumented. LA is a Latino city where the mayor and cardinal still wield considerable influence. There's a strong working class here & lots of unions [though both groups struggle to keep ahead of debt in an increasingly expensive city. Democrats understand that the economy has to work for everyone.
Bradley never address illegal immigration, to my knowledge, since it hasn't been a major issue in the past [though some may dispute that statement
