Hey any thoughts on these two buildings in terms of locations? Been trying to narrow down my apt search for my impending move to LA. Sadly, I am currently across the country to scoping out the areas before is kinda tough! My most important criteria is walkability to good date spots/restaurants and non sketchy area. Thanks all.

Sunset by a long shot. The Santa Monica blvd location isn't awful, but it's not nearly as vibrant as the strip.

I can see why you picked these two as they both have their pluses/minuses.

7950 Sunset is at the beginning of the strip. If you're into fine dining, comedy shows, and some upper-scale shopping, this is a great place to live. It's within walking distance of 8000 Sunset center which has a Trader Joes and other conveniences that make it very livable. It's also more expensive...by a few hundo a month. On a related note, I know the property manager and that dude runs a tight ship.

The Dylan is across from the West Hollywood Gateway which is an incredibly convenient shopping center. I do all my grocery, spirits, etc shopping there and have thought to myself "s**t, why don't I just move across the street" on more than one occasion. East of The Dylan is somewhat undeveloped, and going West down SaMo Blvd is nice.

Either way, you're going to have a good time. Between these two it comes down to your lifestyle preferences and budget.

Eh, rent for a studio @ The Dylan will be ~$2450 (unless it's on PH level) and the area is booming with 20 something yuppies. Have you been there within the past year? It's not bad at all.

Both areas are just fine, but 7950 Sunset puts you right in the middle of the action, on the eastern end of the Strip. Santa Monica and La Brea while certainly walkable isn't as happening of an area as Sunset and Fairfax.

Awesome thanks so much for the replies.. It is a tough choice for sure. The Dylan looks nicer but seems location is a little bit worse. Cost look more or less the same to me, and both a fair bit cheaper than what I am used to paying been a NYer for nearly a decade.

No. I suspect this poster hasn't visited the area in some time. I'm there 1x/week and it's a nice area. Going east is undeveloped and thus frequented by homeless but the The Dylan is not in a bad area.
