L.A. will convert motel units to 500 apartments for homeless vets - LA Times

Underutilized hotels will be turned into permanent housing for homeless people. This means the run down hooker type hotels that most neighborhoods have, will be converted into permanent housing for the formerly homeless. LA is using this approach because it is a lot cheaper to take commercial hotels and turn them into permanent housing than it is to go through the process of building new buildings (which will also ultimately happen).

The other approach is that run down hospitals will be turned into housing for the formerly homeless as well.
LA To Turn Old Motels, Hospitals Into 500 Apartments For Homeless Vets | The Huffington Post

Skid Row SRO's are also being turned into permanent apartments for the formerly homeless, as well as other temporary housing.

Is the shift to permanent housing making L.A.'s homelessness problem even worse? - LA Times

Further proof that reich-wingers only pay lip service to caring about our vets. They're political props, nothing more.

You're right, that was a bad comparison on my part...

I bet even Hitler took care of his troops better than modern-day right-wing conservatives:

Garcetti should set a good example and house the homeless in his $1.6 million rental property.

Declining malls should be turned into homeless housing too.

Providing shelter for homeless vets really irks you guys.

What if they were veterans of the Red Army? Would you show them some compassion then?

The surrounding neighborhoods would flip. Nothing brings out the NIMBY fangs more than homeless shelters. Not a bad idea though.
