Putting it out there, cause I know there's a lot of people living in trailers in the Acton area!

I'm trying to find a place to park & live in my travel trailer in the Acton area. I live in my trailer and currently based near Rosamond. I work in LA and the commute is killing me, so hoping to head a little closer, like Acton.

I don't really want to end up in a trailer park, I'd like a bit more space and privacy than that. Somewhere I could fence a small area or set up a dog run for my dog.

I'm willing to switch my rig to solar power if need be. Then I'd only need a water hose hook up. Can afford a few hundred a month, trying to keep it low.

Alternatively, I'd be up for buying my own land, but I don't think it's very legal to live in a trailer on your own land.. without a house there too, at least.

Open to suggestions and ideas if anyone has any!

Cheers.

Back in the day you could get away with it on larger parcel out around Tick Canyon and points east, not sure how the regs have tightened if at all.

Before I get into the post, the trailer park on 126 about 3-4 miles west of I-5 is much better. But probably more expensive too, and probably no help for you.

You have two problems: You said you can go solar so you have electric solved, in theory you can haul in your own water, in theory you can get rid of grey water, but the black water problem is a deal killer. However I have seen black water "haulers" you can buy, in essence a septic tank you can hitch to your truck. Where to dump it though? -- Many RV parks do offer a per use black water (and grey water) drainage service $$$. It's going to play hell if you have to haul your RV over every time you need to dump though, 1 person perhaps every7-10 days.

The problem with a plot of land is that it's unlikely you will be able to get any utilities, and you can't just dump black water on the land.

Another idea is to find somebody with a house on a large property and come to a deal with them.

I'm pretty sure OP is looking to just park on the side of the road somewhere and not pay anything

I actually have a compost toilet, so no issue with black water. Grey water at the moment on friends property I have been watering trees. Making grass!

Yeah, I've spoken too all the trailer parks. Too expensive to be sardine packed in.

The issue with a plot of land it's supposedly illegal. It's considered camping, even if on your own property, so it's "illegal". Which I think is stupid. I'm wondering if I put a large shed on a property as well, if that's still illegal.

I'm trying to find people with large properties. Just struggling to get the word out. I've found a couple of offers further out, so I'm still keeping a look out cause I want to be closer than those.

I think you are on the right track, trying to find somebody with a large property who will rent you a small part away from their house that you can park your trailer. That sounds like the cheapest living quarters imaginable as long as you own an RV. I had a 32' 5th wheeler with 2 sliders (LR & BR) and it was quite cozy and comfortable for a few years. In the end I finally got tired of the small living area.

Yep, good approach. Rent from an existing land holder who has "legal facilities" in place.

Perhaps you can put an ad in the local newspaper or Craigslist that you would like to be caretaker for someones rural property.

LA has a ton of people living in RVs n the streets, and it seems LA being homeless friendly don't mess with them.
