I can get why some might not like it. What I don't get is why some absolutely despise LA. It's such a big city and there's something for everyone imo

People who say they don't like LA actually mean they don't like traffic, or can't afford it
LA is an amazing place and I love the fact that you can find very cool and fun spots throughout the county and not just clustered in a certain area like many cities.
It has beaches, fun nightlife, diverse range of neighborhoods for every taste, good job market, amazing scenery and landscape, great location close to other pretty places for regular weekend trips (OC, San Diego, Las Vegas, Santa Barbara...)
Give me LA over any other city hands down. (SF is nice too tbh but too cold for my taste)

LA is awesome!!! We're all just jealous.

I remember the first time I visited the city and after landing at LAX, getting into a taxi and heading downtown, my view was similar to this. Seriously, I could not and would not live there. Disgusting.

Quote:
Los Angeles has some of the most contaminated air in the country. With a population of roughly over 10 million, the Los Angeles area is a large basin with the Pacific Ocean to the west, and several mountain ranges with 11,000-foot peaks to the east and south. Diesel engines, ports, motor vehicles, and industries are main sources of air pollution in Los Angeles. Frequent sunny days and low rainfall contribute to ozone formation, as well as high levels of fine particles and dust.
Facts don't lie.

^^^^ must have been after a huge wind storm.

Brain pollution: Evidence builds that dirty air causes Alzheimer

Good times....
Quote:
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA—In a barbed wire–enclosed parking lot 100 meters downwind of the Route 110 freeway, an aluminum hose sticks out of a white trailer, its nozzle aimed at an overpass. Every minute, the hose sucks up hundreds of liters of air mixed with exhaust from the roughly 300,000 cars and diesel-burning freight trucks that rumble by each day....Some of the health risks of inhaling fine and ultrafine particles are well-established, such as asthma, lung cancer, and, most recently, heart disease. But a growing body of evidence suggests that exposure can also harm the brain, accelerating cognitive aging, and may even increase risk of Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.
The more you know.

LOL...Your comparing Sitka,Alaska and L.A...These 2 places are complete opposites and not just the distances from eachother.

L.A truly is a wonderful place and does have it's beautiful sights, but some people like it and some don't,just like some people love California and some don't,and yup living there and vacationing there is different.

L.A just like everywhere else has it's positives and negatives

Traffic and parking are frustrating I will admit. A 15-20 min drive could take 45 min or more. Add another half hour to find parking lol. You get so frustrated trying to get to your destination sometimes, you want to just go back and forget it. I experienced that feeling last night. I guess living here and vacationing here are completely different.

People that expect NYC in L.A will never be happy in L.A

I've only visited NYC but don't have a desire to live there .
I can see how the energy of NYC can attract people though . Much more a fast paced city.
I always heard people saying that L.A is more laid back and I didn't really get it until the last trip I took to NYC.
People are just a lot more in a hurry there and impatient .

A lot of people complain that not all of L.A is dense but I like that you have a variety of neighborhoods with some being very dense and others more quiet.
