Some people like the suburbs though . Unfortunately city of L.A has allowed many neighborhoods to decay and go downhill so many people would prefer to move to the suburbs versus dealing with such 3rd world conditions.

Sure downtown la is pretty hip these days but it's still sketchy even by the hip bars and restaurants.

LA is in absolutely no way like a third world country. There are many, many places in America that are FAR, FAR more decayed than booming and prosperous LA.

LA has some grittiness. But I like that about it.

It's become common to see tent cities that take up a whole block in L.A and I'm not just talking skid row . Those are 3rd world type conditions .

Actually in even some 3rd world countries I haven't seen stuff like that .

L.A is booming and prosperous ? Why is the poverty rate so high ? Why can't the city afford to fix basic things like sidewalks and potholes??

Los Angeles, San Bernardino counties battle higher poverty rates

Yes it never ceases to surprise how ignorant people are. Maybe it would help if people would travel or at least read a little to see an actual third world city.

You must be joking. I love LA - the nice parts of LA - but let's get real. Vast portions of LA are definitely like the third world.

Old news. It was a third world dump years ago. My sister wanted out of there. Glad I never went back. I suspect one day all of southern kalufurnya will be one huge third world city. I hope Mexico takes back the state because it was their land in the beginning.
