I almost chuckled out of my seat when someone said "wannabie orange county". I certainly have no problem with people who just like to carry on their business in a civilised manner. I would rather the latter than be around people who have no interest than to try and mug me or to just cause trouble. Trully a bad case of "Inferiority complex"

Hi,
To the original poster. Have you tried Sunshine? There's a sunshine school on Newhall Ranch Road. My child goes to Sunshine. It's a very nice preschool. It's hard to get into sometimes because there are more children applying than spaces available. But with school starting next month, this might be a good time to call and find out if they have any openings. Sunshine has 2 locations in Valencia and I've heard great things about both locations.
Don't know much about La Petite. I have some friends who send their kids to Tutor Time also on Newhall Ranch Rd. Tutor Time's website looks like it's very academic but in reality it's much more of a play-school. My friends are very happy with Tutor Time.

Stevenson Ranch had the best elementary school in the whole santaclarita valley. 944 API, with this kind of score, Stevenson Ranch elementary can be considered as one of the best school in LA county.

OKAY...I am trying to buy something in the Valencia area as well. I am looking for a newer development for around $400K...think I may wait a little longer for prices to come down a little more. That being said, what is the best area to move to if I want to be close to shops/restaurants, etc. I really don't care about all of this talk about Yuppies, MILFs and orange county. I can care less what other people do in their life...if someone wants to buy a better car than me, than have at it. I'm not paying their car note! I am orig from NYC and can handle snobs...in fact I am sure when I do find a house they will be saying "Uh, oh, trouble just moved into the neighborhood!" J/K!

Right off the 5 if you take McBean exit and go left to Stevenson Ranch. Off that main entrance is Huston to the left and that takes you down to the newer houses in that area. If you take the next exit at Valencia and go left, you enter Westridge, also very new. If you continue to the Newhall Ranch exit then go right off exit and the left on Copperhill, there are a whole bunch of new houses going up. Just past that is Tesoro, also very new. If you continue on Newhall as far as it goes, the Riverpark project is there, also brand new. Lots of stuff. This area is not very big so nothing is all that far.

Everything you could ever want when it comes to shopping will be in Valencia, lots and lots of malls. Plenty at the "Old road" near stevensons, then you have places over at "Magic mountain" and "soledad cyn". The only thing we probably dont have here as oppossed to burbank is "Ikea".

All over. I'll just name a few we like. At the Mcbean exit just before entering Stevenson Ranch, we have Claim Jumper, Chilis, Romano's, Mama Mia's pizza, WoodRanch BBQ YUMMMM. At the Valencia exit there are a couple of places in the Albertson's center along with Bevmo. At the Newhall exit there is a Walmart on one corner, Home Depot on another, and a center with the Habit(burgers etc.) George's Bistro, New Moon and a couple others. Further down Newhall at Bouquet is Presidente (Mexican) and Roast House. Down Soledad there are a bunch clear through Canyon Country. Soledad and Golden Valley is where Sam's is along with a super Walmart and one of my fav's Rattler's BBQ. You are getting me hungry. Also on Soledad is a place that specializes in wings, another Phili-Cheesesteaks etc. There is a new Brazilian I have not tried yet. Along Valencia there is Japanese, Thai Dishes. Near the mall(Westfeld) is a BJ's brewery, Elephant Bar, Mimi's Cafe, Salt Creek (nice place) and Sisley's and Buca. I think you get the picture. Oh and a restaurant row near Magic Mountain.
