Sherman Oaks to Hancock Park commute
Hey all,
I am pretty new to the area. I've been searching for a job and finally got one through the Comar agency. The address is 4929 Wilshire Blvd. and I'll be coming from Sherman Oaks. Google maps says expect a commute of 22 minutes on the 101 or 29 minutes taking Laurel Canyon. Here's the map. from: sherman oaks, ca to: 4929 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90010 - Google Maps
Anyway, just wondering if anyone has any info about this trip. Is it relatively easy or will I hate every minute of it? I have to be there at 8am. Thanks a lot

If you have to be there at 8:00AM I would suggest leaving at 6:45 on your first day. Just to be sure you are at your work area ready to go by 8:00. With average traffic it'll take you anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour give or take a few minutes.

I would suggest Ventura or the 101 to Highland and then Highland to Wilshire. According to Mapquest it's directly on the corner of Highland and Wilshire. It should take about 30 - 45 depending on traffic.

I know someone who lives in Sherman Oaks and works in Century City with me. She told me her average commute is about 45 minutes. Hancock Park is a ways from Century City too, so I would count on a minimum of 1 hour to get to your new office. Just to be safe, you should probably give yourself an hour and a half your first day.
The 101 south into Hollywood from the Valley in the mornings is an absolute joke, don't go that way. Also, if you take Laurel Canyon, don't go all the way down to Wilshire. I would cut across either Beverly or 3rd then go down Highland down to Wilshire.

Thanks for the responses. I'm not looking forward to the traffic at all. What about cutting across on Fountain taking a right on Highland and going down to Wilshire? Would taking a side street be better? Thanks

you are not the only one trying to dodge the 101
there is no easy commute from the valley to hollywood.........sometimes you need to just bite the bullet
local traffic can get just as crazy.........especially if you need to make a left turn.......no left turn arrows..........2 cars per every green light is the norm.........get used to it, especially driving through hollywood
definitely leave before 7am.........
