You say you contacted the city. By that, do you mean the police? Homeless set started encampments in front of the closed Acapulco restaurant on Sunset and were cleared out by the police very quickly. Maybe their visibility on such a busy street prompted the action. Just prior to that, homeless were cleared out of a nearby alley, just off Sunset Drive, so wonder why the lack of action for your situation.

Download the MyLA311 app > Create a Service Request > Investigations > Homeless Encampment > Take photos and leave comments about how it's a chronic issue for your building, and include your witness of hard drugs.

Do this every day until they are gone. They'll come back a few days or weeks later, and you just keep reporting. Eventually, they'll get the hint and pick another spot. It's a war of attrition. My building (Hollywood) does it all day.

Welcome to LA. Everyone has the right to do whatever they want. Homeless, illegals , it doesn't matter. They all have rights even if they are braking the law.

For what it's worth, I used to spend a lot of time in Los Feliz and there was one homeless woman living on a corner and verbally abusing everyone that walked by. The cops relocated her a few times and she kept coming back the next day. Within a couple of years she multiplied into about 10 homeless in that neighborhood and the police started saying there is nothing they can do so they stopped doing anything

I heard a story on NPR a few weeks ago about a building owner near skid row who set up sprinklers on a timer that sprayed the sidewalk a few random times at night to scurry away the homeless. Apparently his is the only building on the block not surrounded by homeless people. He gives cheap space to some homeless services organization and the homeless that they interviewed on NPR were all pretty sympathetic to the owner. Technically it's illegal, so when a reporter starter asking about if a couple weeks before the story went on the air, he turned them off. The city isn't good at enforcement, so you might get away with it. Look it up and see what the punishment is, it may just be some slap on the wrist fine that would be completely worth it.

Sounds like you own the building or manage it ?
Might be a good time to sell and invest in an area where the city cares about landlords and business owners .
Unless you make a big donation to the mayor or city council .
The words and actions of this city don't leave me with the impression they care .

Another big problem is CA's soft on crime laws , it seems people don't even suffer any consequences for hard drug use anymore .

The scumbags know what they can get away with .

Another option is invest in security. The buildings I lived in that were in rougher areas in the past like Koreatown and McArthur Park had full time security who worked in the lobby and kept vagrants away from the building. Probably worth the investment if you were losing renters especially with the absurd rental rates in DTLA these days.
