That's part of the plan of measure H.

Communications Director Tommy Newman....(says that) four “big ticket items” will likely get the lion’s share of the money raised through the sales tax increase. Those items are: http://la.curbed.com/2017/3/8/148554...llot-measure-h

I'm at the point where I am rooting for the politicians to scare everybody out of LA to the point that if people aren't mega wealthy (or homeless) then they will just leave LA. Raise the sales tax to 15%. Free up some traffic.

I'm actually interested in seeing how far the pain can go for ALL of California.

Get rid of Prop 13 like democrats have been wanting for years, jack up property taxes, sales tax, tax everything from Soda pop to fois gras with 50% additional levies, and to top it all off, create the California Single payer system for healthcare funded by California tax payers. Also keep CalPERs floating above water at any cost necessary.

Don't forget that cities are pushing to add a City Income Tax to add to the burden and San Francisco has been very vocal about it.

In essence San Francisco already does. It's the payroll tax levied on employers. And it's a major pain.

Does that include capital gains?

The residents of SF have been vocal to raise their own taxes ?

Or you mean they've been vocal against it ?

I know for a while now SF has a health care tax when you go out to a restaraunt there .

Depends on how you ask...

Many have said it is necessary and they support it to maintain SF in the light of a Trump Administration... reasons vary from Sanctuary City to Public Transportation.

Biggest obstacle as reported is the California Constitution.

Rising Pension costs in SF and many other cities is a big issue.

"San Francisco’s net pension liability -- a key measure of how much retirement benefits exceed the assets set aside to cover them -- more than doubled to $5.5 billion in the year ended in June due to lagging investment returns and an update to assumptions, including longer lifespans for retirees. In addition, the city lost a court case and must now pay some cost of living adjustments to retirees it was trying to limit because of the measure that voters approved.

Contributions to the San Francisco Employees’ Retirement System will increase 36 percent by 2022, more than three times faster than the city’s revenue, according to the five-year plan. The general-fund budget this year is $4.9 billion."
