Wow, thread started in 2006. The OP is eleven years older now. Well, we all are. I won't forget the Northridge earthquake and North Hollywood bank robbery shootout.

Also, since then, the 2008 Sesnon fire (Porter Ranch and Granada Hills), the Sayre fire (Sylmar and Granada Hills) and the 2009 Station Fire (Angeles National Forest). Photos below taken during the Sesnon Fire.

I think the valley, especially outside of California, is famous for Valley girls! I would say that's the Valley's number-one claim to fame. Hmm, I guess you could also argue Calabasas with the Kardashians. LOL.

Speaking as an outsider, I'd say it's know for Valley Girls (thanks to Frank Zappa and Clueless), shopping malls (thanks to Fast Times At Ridgemont High), surfer/stoners (thanks to Fast Times at Ridgemont High) long days livin' in Reseda (thanks to Tom Petty), and earthqaukes (thanks to San Andreas).

Oh, and p-o-r-n. (Thanks to Boogie Nights).

It is an epitome of suburbia thanks to The Brady Bunch and to the many stars, directors, producers, etc who lived there on all those pine-tree and palm-tree lined streets in and around Woodland Hills, Sherman Oaks, Van Nuys, etc., over the years.
