I am seriously considering relocating to Southern, California. I work from home; therefore, I'm not restricted to any particular location. Lately during my free-time, I've been researching properties. Most recently I came across some rather affordable homes in Calabasas on Mulholland Highway (the following link provides an example of one): https://www.zillow.com/homes/for_sal...ect/12_zm/3_p/

I imagine the area is not very desirable, because most of the homes are below 500K. My max budget is however 415K, therefore the home in the link is definitely within my budget. I am just curious about the overall area. Of course I plan to rent first in the Los Angeles area, while viewing homes, but before that point, I'd love to hear from those who are familiar with the homes on Mulholland Highway.

You do see that the home you listed is a mobile home?

No, it's not a Mobile home. I just double clicked the link. The home is located at: 23777 Mulholland Hwy SPC 91, Calabasas, CA 91302, https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/2...29906073_zpid/

Scroll down, look at "Facts", it says right there, "mobile/manufactured home"

DawnW: I do see that it states "mobile/manufactured." It's very strange because the home appears to be on a foundation. I'm not really accustomed to seeing this sort of thing, because I'm from the North East. I guess that is the major reason why the property is so cheap. The general area (on google maps) also looks a bit run down.

It is located in Calabasas Village Mobile Estates, which has a rent of $1330 per month for the space. You are just paying for the actual house.

Calabasas Village, Calabasas, CA - SpaceRentGuide.com

Scroll down on that website to current listings and your house is on there.

They should be completely transparent in the listing.

would you consider a townhouse or condo or do you really want a house?

OP: that is in Calabasas which is one of the nicest areas in Los Angeles County.

Too suburban for my taste but it is a highly desirable area with many gated communities where wealthy entertainers live.

Granted, the mobile home you located in is the "Calabasas Highlands" which is kind of isolated and away from the prime part of Calabasas along Parkway Calabasas. But make no mistake: that is a very nice area.

Wow ... a 43-year-old mobile home for $380,000 ... and you don't even own the land?

Holy crap!
