Default Professional couple, no kids. Where should we live?

We own a house in Torrance now. I work in Culver city. I need to be closer to my job, the commute is unbearable. We want to be in a community with other professional couples without kids so we can meet new friends and ideally be in walking distance of restaurants, high-end grocery stores, etc. We prefer a single family home, but the subdivisions seem seem to be too family oriented, so we would consider a condo/townhouse if we had to. We like cooler microclimates, eg the west side or southbay, but are open to anything at this point. Myabe something near the Grove? ANy suggestions?

New townhomes in the master-planned Playa Vista area, which is near Culver City. Santa Monica is not that far either on surface streets.

Default Playa vista?

I looked at playa vista. The community stuff seems way too family oriented. And the whole place...very Brave New World, a little scary and overly structured for me. I used to live in a condo in SM (ocean park) - surrounded by shallow yuppies and homeless people. I think I need a referral to a specific neighborhood or condo complex if we go SM. I know, I am picky. This is why I am still stuck in Torrance. Great asian food, that's it.
