Santa Monica people
I visited Santa Monica over the weekend for a job interview that Monday. I went out on Sunday night in Santa Monica, walked up and down Hollywood Blvd on Monday, and walked the beach/boardwalk from Santa Monica pier to Venice pier on Tuesday. I must say I was surprised to not see any attractive girls at all. All I saw were weirdoes, crazies, and bums. I was amazed at the bum infestation in the beach areas and shopping areas of Santa Monica. It seemed that it was almost 50/50 bum/non-bum ratio (maybe a little exaggerated). I’ll be a single guy when I start a job at 10990 Wilshire in Brentwood in May. What area do you suggest for nightlife? I’d rather live closer to the beaches but need to live in a nice neighborhood. Looking to spend around $1,500 month for a 1 bedroom. Thanks!

Santa Monica is a great place for the young and single. Unfortunately, it looks as if you ended up in all the tourist areas of LA, which of course brings the highest concentration of the homeless. Outside of the 3rd St. Promenade and Venice, you really won't see too many homeless people. And if you do, they don't really ask for money. Regarding nightlife, there are hubs all over the westside for all different types of people.
Regarding where you end up living, since you're job is in Westwood, I strongly suggest that you live close. Wilshire is the busiest street in the city, especially when you're near UCLA. However, if you do choose to commute, you'll definitely want to come from the west. Since you're rent budget is $1500, you will be priced out of most of Santa Monica, so you may want to consider West LA (south of wilshire, north of santa monica blvd, west of the 405, and east of Bundy). You'll have no problem finding an apartment in your range in this area. There's not necessarily a lot of night life in this area, but many places are a short cab ride away. You may be able to find something closer to the beach for $1500, but its going to be difficult.

Check out Manhattan or Hermosa Beach if you want to see high concentrations of attractive women ... however rent is high. On the westside, Westwood is not bad neither.

You must be new around here. Everyone knows that Venice beach is where you specifically go to WATCH the freaks and their freakshows.
Nobody really goes to Venice in the wintertime except tourists looking for the "Baywatch" type girls.
Summer is when everyone comes out to play.
Nobody is walking around half naked in bikinis in March.
Santa Monica caters to bums, again, everyone knows that Santa Monica has always catered to bums. They used to feed them in the morning on Ocean Avenue at that park above PCH.
Good luck apartment hunting!

West Hollywood has very attractive women & lower ratio of men [since most are gay] Paris Hilton types/the "beautiful people."

Those types of people irritate me and I try my best to avoid them at all costs. They all look the same: same hairstyle, same clothes, same annoying way of talking, same attitude, same over-sized sunglasses, and same body type.
