I'm moving to an area where Spectrum is the only choice for cable tv and internet. To make a long story short, my tv can't be connected to a cable line (not possible in my apt). For the wireless tv, do I need to get a smart tv or can I plug my non-smart tv into the wall with a Roku and get it that way?

In case I do have to get a smart tv, Spectrum's website mentions that it has to be a Samsung...has anyone been able to use a different brand of smart tv with Spectrum?

You can just use a non smart tv that has the hdmi port with a Roku and stream TV shows via the Roku. I think as long as you have the spectrum app on the roku the spectrum tv feature should work.

Yeah, that worked!

Spectrum sucks. It's a cable system and that means you share bandwidth with your neighbors. You'll probably notice it slows way down at night.

Been with Charter (now spectrum) for 10 years now. Never has slowed down once. I pay for 50mbps/down and get 70-80 all the time, day or night.

It will still be faster than DSL. The speed increase with fiber isn't worth Frontier's poor customer service unless you really need a symmetric connexion.

Good luck. Spectrum is on a slash and burn. It makes the old ATT look like nice guys. Every employee of the companies they buy out they screw. Nothing is sacred with their new Mgmt. Wow.

Why do Govt allow Cable companies to have monopolies over a city? It should be a free market where companies should be able to compete for customers.

This is what happens when you allow Republicans politicians who are bribed by rich cable companies to vote for insane laws.

Spectrum is great with new services (such as switching from Verizon/Frontier, which had the worst Internet service ever). But if you have a problem--and you will--Spectrum's customer service is probably worse than any communication company I've ever seen.
