Hello, everyone!

My husband is being relocated to Lakewood , CA. We are a military family in their 30's with 3 children under the age of 8. We want a SAFE , friendly neighborhood, GREAT schools, maybe close to beaches and local shopping etc. (if we can afford!)

So far we have heard Long Beach, San Pedro and Cerritos... any ideas, specific neighborhoods we should be looking for?

Thank you all in advance,

Y

For great public schools look at neighboring Los Alamitos, Seal beach, and Cypress.

Cerritos also has some excellent public schools, but parts of Cerritos aren't actually in ABC unified and some ABC schools aren't that great.

Lakewood has four school districts ranging from poor to good. Long Beach unified has been rated the top big city school district in the country, but it's only some of the schools that are good.

Not sure why anyone is recommending San Pedro as their public schools are horrible.
