I do agree that something should be done on the federal level .
The most practical thing would be relocating them to somewhere where housing is not $350,000+ a unit .
That way you could actually house a lot more people . I'm guessing mental health worker salaries are also higher in la versus lower cost of living places .

Like you said many of these people aren't even from the area and L.A already has a budget deficit .
I believe most people in LA want something done regarding the homeless problem, but feel powerless, frustrated, and overwhelmed by the crisis. We need new blood in city hall and not just a bunch of talking heads. We also need a Governor willing to make the homeless situation a high priority instead of spending billions of tax payer dollars on high speed rail system that nobody wants.

Chicago, beautiful and exciting, Washington DC, beautiful and exciting, Detroit, getting better every day, Cleveland, no longer the mistake by the lake. And I don't know why Flint is in the mix.
San Diego leans Democrat now but was the model Republican city for decades and still is more Republican than any city its size.

All those cities might be "boring" but they're safe, affordable, and family friendly.

Chicago? Has nice parts, but extremely high murder rate. Same with DC. A few charming areas doesn't make the city.

Detroit - even if it's getting better every day, it's still in the dumps. Cleveland same deal. You forgot Baltimore. And I forgot Newark.

Polls show that most Californians (sensibly) want HSR.

The first phase (San Jose-Fresno, or potentially San Francisco-Bakersfield depending on funding) is projected to be complete within ten years.

Nothing sensible about a rail system that takes longer and costs more than a plane ticket.

The vast majority of cities--safe and dangerous--have democrat mayors.
