Is there a city known for IT jobs in Los Angeles county that has the lowest cost of living? I'm currently here in the central valley and I have been looking for jobs in Los Angeles since it's nearer and opportunities are there but I hate the traffic and the high COL. Is there a low COL city in LA with low crime rate?

Now where's that unicorn? Hmmmm

Is the ratio of salary to the cost of living in LA really that bad? I mean, I'm really frugal but I don't know if that's enough. I know houses are really expensive in LA 'cause it's LA but is it really that bad?

What do you consider low cost of living? There is nothing in LA County that would be consider low cost of living. Rent is at least $1500 for a one bedroom, car insurance is very high, gas is very high, taxes are very high. Also IT jobs are being outsourced and consolidated. You are better off finding an IT job you can do remotely and then moving to someplace with truly low COL like Texas or Arkansas

Well what do you mean by lower COL? You need to be more specific.

And you don't need to buy a house, you always rent for a year wherever you move to make sure you want to stay in the area.

Also, to keep life easier and simple the shortest commute possibe.

Ryan you were in Glendale and now in Santa Clarita, your car insurance must have gone down. Glendale has the highest rates in the state.

And there are states like FL where car insurance is higher than here.

The OP is probably a native Californian, has family here. Who the hell wants to live in Texas or Arkansas...LOL
