Arabs in LA
I'm actually asking for a friend of mine.
What area/school would be more appealing for a young middle eastern guy?
The Valley(CSUN)
or Pomona(Cal Poly)?
By that, I mean proximity to any kind of Arabic culture. Restaurants, markets, maybe even some sort of young community?
He is naturalized from Jordan. He enjoys partying quite a bit.
He is looking to go into Engineering, and I know Cal Poly is the easy choice for its great program, but where would he enjoy his stay more?

UCLA, USC, UCI... all good choices.
there isn't much around CSUN as far as partying goes.... they mostly take place in dorms and frat houses.

even tho both northridge and pomona are far from the nightlife, northridge is closer. if he is a partyin typa guy then csun, due to its "proximity" to the hot spots. weho, hollywood, samo, and downtown are closer to csun than cal poly. and not to mention the arabic community of the valley.
but if he is a student shouldnt academics matter most? cal poly is a great school. i mean thats what i would be looking at, but if he is a taken care of individual who is just lookin for the US college party experience while takin some classes then i guess academics wouldnt matter.

I'm sure academics are more important, but he would also like to know about the area he's going to spend the next 2-3 years living in.
Is Northridge really all that far from everything?
I figured its about 15 mins or so from hollywood. Is it closer to 30?

Unlike back east, L.A. has way more Persians than Arabs.

Yeah, I know there's a lot of Persians around OC, and in San Diego, there was lots of Somalians and Ethiopians where I lived..
But I've never been too sure about Arab populations in So Cal.
I'm asking for a friend, but I'm pretty interested myself.
I would like to be near an Arabic bakery...damn, just thinking about it has me hungry.
