Default from Long Beach to Pasadena?

Hello.

I'm heading back out to California and I'll be moving into a home with a friend for a short while. He is renting out the lower level of a house as of now and will soon be looking to get a house of his own.

He was telling me about a place north of LA and that for his girlfriend, me and himself, we would each spend eight-hundred dollars. I've been looking around and seeking out other options and I was curious about Pasadena.

For a a guy coming out there to Cali mainly trying to get into show biz, I would not like to spend much money on rent. Are there some cheap places in Pasadena, and how well is Pasadena? Any good activities in the area, beautiful scenery, water, commute, transportation, and how is the crime?

Thank you.

Pasadena is a desirable place to live for a lot of people, therefore fairly expensive.

Will that $800 cover any utilities? Check Craigslist for apartments in Los Angeles and limit your search to Pasadena. It looks like there are 2br's out there starting around $1500/mo.

if you're looking for a very active industry-driven social scene, pasadena might be too sleepy for you. while there is enough to do there to keep the average working couple entertained on date night, it isn't party central for the hollywood crowd. if that's the kind of lifestyle you're looking for, prepare to spend a lot of time in your car if you live in pasadena.
