Gardena?
Hey, I just want to know you guys opinion on Gardena, like it's pros and cons. I want to know the reasons that you would or wouldn't live there. Any interesting facts about it, either good or bad, are appreciated.
Thanks.

I am interested in the good pockets, but don't mind being close to a bad area. From the city-data crime stats the city does not seem too bad. Where are the good areas? Also, does Gardena have any gentrified areas?

Gentrified is not a term I would use when referring to Gardena. There is a however a significant Asian population in certain parts of Gardena.I prefer Gardena south of Redondo Beach Blvd west of Western Blvd, there are also some nice homes east of Western as well.Overall this part of Gardena is a pretty quiet area.It also borders Torrance in some parts another nice city as well.Do you have children? Are you interested in schools?

No. I am a college freshmen just doing research on areas across the U.S. I don't graduate for a while, but I believe it's best to start researching areas in advance. I live in Atlanta and have been using city-data to learn more about cities, and if they would be right for me. Thanks for the info.

The only area I would really recommend is the southwestern part (below Artesia west of Normandie)... the eastern part is ghetto, the northwestern part is more middle class but rough, and the areas between Western and Crenshaw south of Rosecrans aren't much better. It's better than Hawthorne and Inglewood but still not the most desirable city.

It's not really a place for young single people. It's mostly families that can't afford Torrance. The public schools, with a couple of exceptions, are not good. There is a large Asian community with deep roots. Also a strong black community. I know several White families that live there as well. So, it's diverse, but mostly families that would live in Torrance if they could afford it.

I have to agree Gardena is not a place I woul choose if I were single. Most singles who want to live in South Bay prefer areas closer to the beach.West Torrance, Redondo, Hermosa, and Manhattan.

Family areas are cool with me. I prefer a more quiet, stable area where people have deep roots. I believe it's better than neighborhoods where residents tend to come and go.
