My friend is visiting LA for the first time, I told him to try Krispy Creams, In and Out. Any other suggestions?

If they like seafood try Dukes in Malibu, Enterprise in between SM and Venice, Neptunes net for a bit cheaper and nice Ocean Views, Malibu Seafood on the PCH, Sunset in Malibu. The Terrace is a good lunch place in Venice if they want to visit that beach too.

KK is a NC based company, the doughnuts are too sweet, I like Randy's better. The Farmers market has some good stuff too, the Frappe place is good in there is good. If they like fresh strawberries drive up near Oxnard or Malibu Canyon and get some off a road side stand or truck patch.

I don't know where your friend is coming from and if it has Mexican food, but I vividly remember my first trip at age 16 to Olvera Street and eating my very first cheese enchilada. I had never had Mexican food before and I was blown away. Plus the street/area is (or was) very cool buy that was in 1966.

Pinks Hot Dogs, Seoul Sausage for a modern twist on Korean BBQ, CoFax for the pastrami breakfast burrito, and oddly enough Mendocino Farms (although I think they've expanded beyond LA now?)

I don't think Krispy Kreme is an LA thing. I had those in the midwest probably 20 years ago.

Its a North Carolina thing. Too sweet and glazey, much better doughnuts out there.
