There is a Hong Kong Plaza on Glendora Ave. crossing Merced. pretty close to The Lakes and the mall. There are many Asian eateries and an all you can eat Buffet there in the strip mall

Exactly!
I lived there back in 1980-83 and even THEN Amar and Azusa was getting bad! CO-vina used to be nice, Walnut about ten miles East was nice. Its all the damn illegals that make it so damn bad and nasty. Just keep going East a few cities down... Where the Asians are. Diamond Bar, Rowland Heights Hacienda Heights...Asian areas always nice, you ever notice that? But where you find illegal aliens nothing but trouble graffiti and gangs.

I am currently still in the area, although east, bordering Glendora and San Dimas. I will be moving out-of-state this summer (if the house sells). The area has really declined, with graffiti, more traffic, more illegals, more crime, over-crowded schools, etc. I would think long and hard before moving here. If you must move to this area, my recommendation would be to live in Covina, not West Covina. If you can afford a bit more, San Dimas and Glendora are both fairly nice.

I must admit I get alittle nervous when I see groups of young men in baggy pants or the long baggy jeans with the high socks, white T-shirts or raiders football jerseys, shaved heads, and a common number 13 tatooed on their arms or legs or sometimes on their back of their heads. I see at least 5-10 of these types when I go to the West Covina mall. Once I could sworn I seen at least 30 or more like that there. I won't say they are bad but they seem to want trouble. However none the less I have never been attacked while shopping at West Covina mall so I can say I was safe? I use to go there 2-3 times a week since it's close to me, now I go to the mall in Arcadia.

I know this city VERY well. This was the first city that I moved to when I first came to California. I use to live around Workman ave and Azuza.
I agree with everything you said! People who don't believe you just have lower standard of living. Plain and simple.
1. There is starting to be a problem of overcrowding. Try going to the W Covina Post office at 3pm!
2. Shrinking diversity. Hispanics, I guess from EL Monte or Pomona are now flooding into W Covnia. If you go into the W covina court house and other surrounding business I hardly ever see black people, Asians, or white people.
3. Crime from the undisciplined children as well as the hard core gang members. A sad story in march of this year a wealthy Asian woman was killed in her home by some hispanic gang cowards. They killed an OLD WOMAN for heavens sake!!!
What I see happening, is the people from South hills and Walnut will be terrorized by the gang members that move into W Covina from El Monte, Pomona or other places. This is why people have such a big issue with Hispanics, there standard of living is just not up to par with the American culture. If they were up to par, people would not be complaining as much.
Not to suggest that America is the par excellence, but If I'm living in a all American neighborhood, at least I don't haft to worry about chickens running down the street, and bald hoodlums with tattoos on there heads staring me down because I'm not brown skinned.
You can read about the woman who was killed right here

I know exactly what you are talking about. I feel that complex was a huge waste of money! It's just a bunch of manicured fields.
I don't understand it, I have never seen more fast junk food shops in one place in my life on Azuza and Amar! Look at all the people in the public, there FAT! Yet we build ANOTHER El poyyoloco, or Starbucks?
Why don't they use the money to build a better post office with more parking? Why don't they use the money to modernize the public library? Why don't they use the money to modernize the court house and make the process of handling tickets more efficient?! There is a line out the door around 7-8am at the court house almost every time I was there in morning! If you need to see the judge you haft to wait 4 months because the system is so jammed!!
