Default Where are the best places to live and work in West Hollywood?

Hey Guys,

I'm a 23 yo gay guy from the UK. I am going to be in LA this summer on a temporary work and travel visa and on the advice of others, I have decided to spend the summer (June - Oct) working in the West Hollywood area. I will be looking for a job in bar or restaurant environment just to fund my stay and potential travel before I return home to the UK.

I still have a few unanswered questions though:

Where abouts are the best areas for:

1. safety
2. affordable accommodation (I will share an appartment but not a room)
3. entertainment
4. bar and restaurant work

I currently work as a restaurant manager for one of the UK's largest licensed hospitality chains so I have plenty of experience in the style bar and upmarket restaurant industry.

Also, I don't drive so any advice on the local transit system and how easy it would be to travel in the local and wider area would be greatly appreciated.

PS - How much money should I bring with me (I have been told to budget for $2500 - $3000).

Cheers!
